Several folks have requested a closer look at this piece ~ so I've included two details. This botanical is actually a collage constructed from a variety of found papers including maps, postage stamps, and antique currency. Here you have a close-up view of a stamp from Colombia. I've worked into it with colored pencil. It's set above an engraving of a woman's face so that accounts for the eye looking at you.
The detail below is of the undulating and spiraled leaves of this tulip that feature map fragments from a very different part of the world as the stamp. Sometimes I will coordinate the maps and stamps to arrive at a unified theme however, in this piece, it was the color and texture of the paper that determined my selection.
These details were taken from the botanical image below. The tulip botanical is one of my most popular and fastest selling items. The Mardi Gras Tulip is still available as it's the last one like it left in my collection. Tomorrow I will start posting images and information about Orchids and Irises as requested. Thank you!
